Our lottery game formulation involves the principles of probability theory, combinatorics, and the law of large numbers. This is formulation that GDLotto has been using in crafting our lottery games, as well as the guideline in balancing our players’ expectation and engagement. To create a balanced and engaging lottery game, it’s crucial to have an equitable formulation and game designs that offers fair chances, clear information, achievable goals, appropriate complexity, a rewarding experience, social connectivity, and positive emotional engagement. We called this as GDLotto’s Game Formulation.
Our ultimate goal is to create an enjoyable and satisfying experience lottery games that keeps players coming back. To understand our formulation easily, we’re divided it into 2 categories in designing our games and products roadmap:
(/) Slash Formulated Lottery
Overview
This category of lottery game is among the most common that we can see in lottery. Today most of the lottery operators are practicing (/) Slash-formulated lottery games, including the 5/90 lotto games that we commonly seen in Nigeria, or some of the famous lottery game such as the 6/42 game from US Powerball, or the 6/59 game from UK Lotto. All these games are formulated with a slash (/) symbol, and this symbol also explaining on how this lottery game being draw for its winning result. For instance, to draw 6/42 game, the operator will randomly draw 6 balls as winning result from the pool with 42 balls. Similar to 5/90 game, the operator will randomly draw 5 balls as winning result from the pool with 90 balls.
In Nigeria, GDLotto have crafted 3 different type of (/) Slash-formulated lottery games, namely 5/90, 5/80 and 5/70.
Here are the features of (/) Slash-formulated lotterygames:
1. Lower Winning Probability
The odds of winning for (/) Slash-formulated lottery games are usually very low, and it’s greatly depending on its rules and prizes. For example, the odds of winning the Powerball or Mega Millions in the United States are approximately 1 in 292.2 million and 1 in302.5 million, respectively. In some countries, operators are practicing easy to win (/) Slash-mode lottery games such as 5/42 and 6/39 lotto game. The odds of winning the jackpot in a 5/42 lottery are 1 in 850,668, while 6/39 lotto game is 1 in 3,262,623.
To boost higher winning probability, we have invented 5/80 and 5/70 lotto, that has similar gameplay on 5/90, but with much higher winning probability.
Winning odds comparison: 5/90 (1 in 43mil) vs 5/80 (1 in 24mil) vs 5/70 (1 in 12mil)
2. Multi-millions Progressive Jackpot
In general, the (/) Slash-formulated lottery games are usually harder to win and lower probability of winning. Therefore, in return most of the (/) Slash-formulated lottery games are allocating multi-millions winning prizes or progressive jackpot with multi-tier of consolation prizes. On the other hand, most of the (/) Slash-formulated lottery games are designed with progressive jackpot, and due to lower probability of winning, the speed of growing the jackpot pool is a lot faster than others. If no one wins the jackpot, it rolls over to the next drawing, and increasing the prize pool. Lotteries with frequent roll-overs can see rapid growth in the jackpot size. Billion dollar jackpots have become more common in lotteries such as Powerball and Mega Millions due to the changes of game rules that make it more harder to win, leading to more frequent roll-overs and larger accumulations.
Due to different of gameplay culture in Nigeria, we do not designed the Jackpot game on each respective lotto game of 5/90, 5/80 and 5/70. Unlike in other countries, Nigeria players do not play the lotto with full combination (or NAP5 or Direct5 or 5Sure), while they are only preferred on NAP2 / Direct2 gameplay. Therefore we have invented the jackpot games that interrelated to favorite gameplay or NAP2 / Direct2, and it’s the FIRST and ONLY Jackpot game for NAP2 / Direct2.
Why NAP5 / Direct 5 / 5 Sure games are rarely played by Nigerian?
The winning possibilities to win 5/90, or the odds of matching all five numbers in a 5/90 lottery game, are also very low. The odds can be calculated as follows:
This means that there are 43,949,268 possible combinationsof five numbers out of 90, and only one of them is the winning one.
Therefore, the probability of winning is 1 in 43,949,268, or approximately 0.0000000228. Therefore, you may noticed that most of the Nigerian player DO NOT PLAY NAP5 game, while everyone seem more preferable to play NAP2 game by select only 2 balls (to match across all the 5 balls result). In this because, by playing NAP2 (or select only 2 balls) is much increasing the probability of winning up to 40%.
(X) Times Formulated Lottery
Overview
In a lottery, the concept of multiplication or better known as Times-formulated lottery games are defined as multiplication of chances to win. This type of lottery is NOT about purchasing multiple tickets or entering multiple draws to multiply your chances of winning. In reverse, (x) Times-formulated lottery game is about expanding more chances to win from one purchase. We called this model of lottery as Multiplication (or Multiplier) Lottery. Most of these Multiplication Lottery games are fixed odds & non-shareable prize and repeated payout.
1. One Bet but Multiple Chances to Win
For instance, the fixed-odds game of 4-Digits (4D) lottery that currently play by most of Singapore and Malaysia players. Similar to PICK 4 game, where the player can select any number from 0000 to 9999 (10 thousand possibilities), and twenty-three (23) winning numbers are drawn each time (but PICK 4 game is only have one result to match). Mean, your chance to win has been multiplied to 23 times, or every one bet is equal to 23 chances to win.
GDLotto Asia popular lottery games are formulated with X. E.g. 4D and 6D game.
4D game is formulated with 23 different prizes, mean there are 23 chances to win from one bet.
6D games is formulated with 5 different level of prizes from one result.
2. Fixed Odds & Non-Shareable Prize:
Beside more chances to win, (x) Times-formulated lottery games are usually providing fixed-odd and repeating winning. This lottery model is perhaps more common when apply in Southeast Asia, especially Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Timor Leste. Compared to (/) Slash-formulated, (x) Times-formulated lottery games are usually applied on much higher winning probability game such as 4D (1 in 10,000) and 6D games (1 in 100,000). Each game is offering multiple level of prizes to create more winners than any others lottery game.
Another word, fixed odds mean independent winning. In fixed odds lottery, it doesn’t matter if someone else wins in the same game or same result as you. Each winner gets the fixed return on their bet.
At GDLotto, both our 4D and 6D games are fixed odds lottery that play by most of Singapore and Malaysia players. The 4D game (similar to PICK 4 game), where the player can select any number from 0000 to 9999 (1 in 10,000 possibilities), and there are twenty-three (23) winning numbers will be drawn each time (but PICK 4 game is only have one result to match). Mean, your chance to win has been multiplied to 23 times, or every one bet is equal to 23 chances to win.
3. Repeated Payout:
To easy understand, Repeated Payout mean every one bet can win more than one time. For instance in 4-Digits lottery, if your bet appear 2 time among all the 23 winning result, then you will win 2 times accordingly to each prize payout, plus still maintain its fixed odd payout.
In Nigeria, we formulated a (X) Times lottery game on our NNP game, and each NNP bet is equal to 33 chances to win, while each winning is fixed and repeated payout.
